Another mile stone of Sri Lanka Anti Narcotics Association was taken by the Program Department of SLANA, commencing of Tamil Language awareness programs. The first program at Rajagiriya Hindu College with more than 200 school boys and girls from grade 6 to 11 participating.
The 2nd program was at Tamil Roman Catholic Mixed School with 100 Primary school children joining in the program.
SLANA believes it is imperative to conduct more awareness programs on drugs, as we see the country being adversely affected by this hazard. Day by day more and more youth and school children are becoming victims of drugs and Sri Lanka’s future is in peril.
Initial plan was to reach the school children, but we have now planned to conduct parental and adult awareness programs in Tamil medium.
Its believed that teaching in ones mother tongue is very effective, as it increases the levels of understanding and program impact.
The principals and teachers of both colleges Rajagiriya Hindu College and Tamil Roman Catholic Mixed School, deeply appreciated this worthy mission of SLANA and it was encouraging to receive requests for more programs not only for children, but for adults as well.
